“Please tell me you’re at least on some kind of birth control,” he asked moving to her side.
Nodding against the pillow, she ran her hand over his chest and turned to look at him, her eyes soft, not shooting blue daggers for once.
“Well, we both need to get checked out and make sure we’re both okay because we are soooo going to do that again.” That should put her two-week abandonment fears to rest. “You feel incredible in there, Cal.”
“So do you.”
“I don’t know where this is going, Cal, and I don’t think you do either, who knows, we may end up killing each other when we get out of this bed. In here, we seem to agree on everything.” He grinned, but her gaze still darted like she wasn’t sure whether she could trust him or not. “But it’s gonna take me more than a couple of weeks to kiss every inch of you.”
She gave a half-laugh. He wasn’t used to her not spitting nails at him—this softer side of her was a little disarming.
He dragged his finger up her arm and was pleased to see the goose bumps appear, then her nipples hardening. “That means no more Brad the fuck buddy. If we’re gonna go commando, that means no other people for either one of us.”
“Well now, let’s not be too hasty…” She began to smile as if unable to keep a straight face.
“You! Where’s that crop. You need a good beating for that remark,” Haines said, moving back on top of her threateningly.
“You think I would leave you in possession of the whip?”
“Sure. Why not? As I see it, it’s my turn.”
“Naw-uh, we’re even.”
“Not the way I see it. Not by a long shot,” he said, trapping her lower body with his legs. Subduing her wrists, he lowered his head to her awaiting breasts.
Chapter Eight
A month later, Callie and Haines entered the bar, for the first time since they’d become a couple. Other than attending classes or being apart to go to their part-time jobs, they’d spent every other second with each other. They’d even gone to the campus clinic together.
Haines was a little apprehensive about coming back to the club, uncertain how he might react if she acted like the old Callie and danced with every guy in the place. He was feeling rather possessive of her.
Just before they reached the others, Haines grabbed her arm, swinging her around to face him. “Hey, why don’t we just go home? We have more fun, just the two of us.”
Callie leaned in and kissed him. “We don’t have to stay long. I just want to see the gang and maybe dance with my guy, or for him.” She grinned.
“Ohh, yeah, or you could do that at my place, too.”
As the group caught sight of them, the expected good-natured kidding began.
“Look who we have here,” Craig teased. “Mr. and Mrs.”
“Has hell frozen over, Callie?” Kristie added, smiling.
“Nope, hell is hot, just like Haines.”
“Eeww, no,” Kristie responded quickly.
Deb and Callie exchanged a look, which was kinda weird for Haines. He imagined it was for Callie, too.
“I’m gonna go get a drink,” Callie said, threatening to leave him to the ribbing alone.
“No way, you’re not leaving me here alone to face the sharks,” Haines joked, following her to the bar.
“Two ginger ales, Phil,” Callie ordered.
“You two the designated drivers tonight?”
Haines wrapped his arms around Callie’s waist, his hands coming to rest on her stomach, perhaps immaturely on his part, but he had this strange urge to let Phil know they were together now. When Callie laid her hands on top of his, it made him feel even better.
“Nope, just want to keep clear heads for once,” Callie answered.
He guessed they were both a little apprehensive about their relationship. “Yeah, we get into trouble when we drink,” Haines added.
“Haven’t seen you two around the last couple weeks,” Phil said, setting their drinks down.
“We’ve been busy,” Haines responded.
“Thanks, Phil,” Callie said. Taking their drinks, she re-joined the group.
But just as Haines was about to follow, Phil said, “You lucky dog.”
Haines grinned smugly. “I know, right!”
Back at the pool table, the regular chit chat went on, the girls having a month’s worth of gossip to catch up on until the week’s most popular song came on and the ladies wanted to dance.
Callie dragged Haines out onto the floor and she danced, only for him. Her movements were so sensual and sexy he wanted to fuck her right there and then.
She kissed him. “Let’s go home, Hainsey,” she whispered breathlessly, palming his hard cock, obviously just as affected as he was. “I know where the crop is,” she said, grinning coyly.
Haines smirked in return. “I thought we were even?”
“Round two?”
“You’re on!” Haines agreed. He grabbed her hand and they ran to his truck eagerly.
